T-Mobile customers with the Sony Xperia Z1s (C6916) are receiving today, the update to Android 4.4.4. With the update, the Xperia Z1s receives the usual host of Xperia KitKat goodies like the transparent navigation bar, white icons in the status bar, improvements to the Quick Settings feature, a customized Xperia keyboard, new boot animations, and compatibility with the Sony SmartBand SWR10 and the Lifelog app.
The Sony Xperia Z1s is a model similar to the Sony Xperia Z1, with some minor cosmetic changes. The phone also is IP58 certified for protection against dust and water, allowing it to survive a submersion to as deep as 5 feet of water for as long as 30 minutes.
When the phone launched, it came out of the box with Android 4.3 installed, so the update to Android 4.4.4 is the model's first foray into the world of KitKat. Considering that this is an OTA update that is sent out, keep in mind that you might not receive it right away. When the notification arrives, you should be on Wi-Fi during the downloading and installation process, in order to save your precious data. And make sure that your battery is charged at least half way.
