Android One might get officially introduced at a Google event on September 15 in India

Undoubtedly, Android L stole the show at Google's I/O keynote a tad over two months ago, but let's not forget that Mountain View also unveiled and showcased several other things, most notably Android Auto, Android Wear, and Android One. The latter aims to bring Android to the “next 5 billion people” and is targeted at emerging markets, such as India.

Over the past two months, we were constantly hearing rumors that the first Android One devices might be launched sometime in September. These speculations are further fueled by Google, which has already started to send invites for a September 15 event in India. Official debut of Android One devices immediately pops into mind.

We are most probably dealing with devices, created by several of the most popular local manufacturers, Micromax, Spice, and Karbonn. They'll run on stock Android and will be updated to the upcoming L-release of the search giant's OS. Sundar Pichai, the head of Android, even unveiled some of the specs and features of a Micromax-made Android One device at Google I/O. As we already told you, Google has been trying to push the price of the soon-to-be unveiled devices as low as possible (perhaps between $115 and $165), which has purportedly created a rift between Mountain View and the local manufacturers.

Still, this is purely a speculation, and Google might surprise us with something else. We guess we'd know more as September 15 nears, because Google will be revealing more details in the following days.
