If you are a Canadian HTC One (M8) owner and a customer of Rogers, Telus or Bell, you should be pleased about a tweet sent out yesterday by HTC VP of Product Management, Mo Versi. The tweet revealed that the Eye Experience update will start rolling out today at 12 noon EST, to those in Canada totin' the manufacturer's flagship handset. This update brings a number of new features to the phone's rear camera.
Face Tracking allows the front-facing snapper on your HTC One (M8) to lock in on your face and keep it in focus no mater how much you move. The Auto Selfie feature will snap a picture when you smile, or say a preset word such as "cheese." A video selfie will start recording when the word "capture" is said. And Split Capture records a video with a split screen, allowing you to comment using the front-facing camera, on what is being recorded with the rear-facing shooter.
Live Makeup covers up blemishes on your face to give you a smooth look for a selfie. And Face Fusion merges the photographs of two different people, to form one blended face. These are a few of the new capabilities that your HTC One (M8) will have after the update is installed. HTC plans on sending the update out to other models as well, such as the HTC One (M7), the HTC One max and the HTC One mini 2. The photo-centric HTC Desire EYE comes with the Eye Experience update out of the box.
The update is being sent out OTA. That means that when you are ready to download and install it, your phone should be connected to a Wi-Fi signal, to save your precious data. And your battery should be at least 50% charged. If you're the impatient type, you can also try to coax the update out of your phone by going to Settings > System Update > Check new.
