When the HTC One (M8) launched earlier this year, it had all of the specs that you would expect from an early 2014 top-shelf handset. That included the 5-inch screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920, the Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM and a 128GB microSD slot to go along with 32GB of native storage. But like sands through the hourglass, time continued to march forward and the specs that were once cutting edge, became slightly dated.
And that brings us to the rumored HTC One (M9). A report published on Monday suggests that we will see the HTC One (M9) unveiled during next year's MWC in Barcelona. The phone is rumored to feature a 5.2-inch screen with 1440 x 2560 resolution. That works out to a fantastic 564ppi pixel density. Compare that to the 441ppi pixel density on the HTC One (M8), and you imagine how sharp and clear that screen is going to be.
Additionally, the speculation has the HTC One (M9) powered by a Snapdragon 805 CPU, and the handset will have 3GB of RAM inside. There will be a unit offering 64GB of native storage, and one with 128GB of memory available. Android 5.0 is believed to be pre-installed, and the phone is expected to support 64-bit processing. A larger capacity battery, an IP certification reading higher than the current model's IPx3, and a higher MP camera on back are also believed to be part of the next flagship.
At one time, there was talk about a phablet-sized version of the HTC One (M8) that would include all the specs mentioned for the (M9), except for the size of the screen, which was rumored to measure 5.5-inches. It seems too late for the HTC One (M8) max to make an appearance in time for this year's holiday shopping season. Those seeking the latest and greatest specs on an HTC One, just might have to wait until early 2015 for the next iteration of HTC's flagship phone.
